A just read my notice about the annual meeting, and had a couple of questions I thought you might know the answer to:
Why do they only put out the notice on Nov 20th for a meeting on Dec 9th? Do they really expect us to plan a trip in couple of weeks (if we intended to come to the meeting)? Or has the date been on the website for a long time (and this is just the first time I am seeing it)?
How is it the the DVD company has the “authorized voting representative” status to vote for directors, resolutions, etc, about how to manage itself? If they do the voting, what goes on during the members annual meeting?
I think some of it has to do with the particulars of the resort. Like since BLT and AKL are brand new, the maintenance costs for it should be less than an older resort like SSR. I think it also matters how large the resort is (how many rooms) and the layout (spread out like SSR or one building like WLV).
They have been holding the meetings in early Dec for quite some time. About 50+ DVC members typically show up for the second one. Compared to the number of members, it’s actually quite small. I’ll be there!

Members don’t get to vote on anything. We get to watch DVC propose and vote on everything. If you read your POS, you’ll see that we have made DVD our voting representative. Although strictly possible, it would be rather difficult to make a change. You’d have to get the majority of other owners of your unit# to be willing to choose another voting representative, and that’s just one unit out of many.
The annual meeting is more of a formality where we get to see the budgets and proposals voted on (always Yes with no discussion). At the tail end of the second meeting, DVC will usually give us some updates/news of any changes or enhancements, and there is a Q&A session where members can ask questions.
Thanks for the info, DVC Mike. At least they have the Q&A session to allow us some input. I’ve heard some reports of what the Disney shareholder meetings are like, and was just interested if these were similar.
