I think you’ll find the lack of uproar over the cancellation to be a good indicator of why it died.

I’m rather bummed… never made it to ESPN the Weekend, but we watched the Harlem Globetrotter’s show at WWoS for the weekend, and it was great!

I read the article why, but I don’t understand it.
I attended this year and even ran in the 5k. It was loads of fun.
Talked to a bunch of folks at the 5k who made a week out of it.
They ran in the Princess Marathon the week before, enjoyed ESPN the Weekend, ran in the 5k… then went home.
Everyone, guests, ESPN’ers alike seemed to have a good time.
Loads of people seemed to turn out.
I’ll miss it. I love those special weekends to attend.
Adds to the fun of Disney.

The article makes it sound like it replacing that with new and improved ideas. Disney World is forever changing and mixing it up. It’s what keeps us coming back for more.

They want you to think that. Sure seemed to be a HUGE event. Who knows.
Not sure if ESPN will make it a “movable feast” or just get rid of it.
It sure was a load of fun this year, I can tell you that.
I’m sorry to see it go.

If anything, they’ll want to center the events at Wide World of Sports and the restaurant on the Boardwalk.
That would make some sense.

Good changes are always welcome. Although I’ve never been for the ESPN weekend, I’m sure whatever ideas they come up with for new weekends will aim to please.
