What are YOUR little things?

#1

I was reading a few articles about the expense of vactioning at Disney. Yes, it does cost more than some place like Six Flags, but there are reasons for this.
For the money, you get SO MUCH at Disney! No other place compares to me.
So, I wanted to open a thread for buzzer’s thoughts.
What are the little things that only Disney has that keeps you coming back?
I’ll list some of mine-
The Monorail and voice of the audio speaker
The campy feel and look of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in the line at night
The music playing as you walk around Epcot
The voice of the Haunted Mansion narrator
A ride on the people mover at night overlooking all the bright lights of Tomorrowland
The smell of the ice cream parlor on Main St.
The sound of gunshots at the Frontier Land shooting arcade.
Stopping and watching the Tower of Terror droppers when they reach the top

These are but a few, that hook me into going again and again. How about yall?

Good thread.

Just walking through Animal Kingdom. Love the atmosphere.

Happy people (well, most are happy)

The cleanliness and organization of Disney

The music on the Pop buses and the entrances to the parks

The CMs

I’m never ready to leave like I am at other tourist attractions

It’s kid of strange, but the smell of the trams used to remind me of Disney when I was younger, lol.
Happy people is a great one.
Playing the game of what color the next monorail would be as we wait.
The sound of the Gran Prix loudspeaker.
The flying cookie inside Space Moiuntain!
All the neon of Hollywood Studios at night : )

This isn’t a little thing but it’s what keeps us going back: the service.

Purple and Red Road Signs - with ears, of course!

Hearing the security guard at DVC properties saying “Welcome Home!” when you arrive.

Taking the boat down the Sassagoula to the Marketplace.

The song at the opening of the MK…“It’s just some magic, wrapped up in pixie dust!”:crying: gets to me every time!

3.) losing myself and leaving the world behind

5.) most important - time spent with my child.

This is mine exactly, with a few more. The music in the theme parks. The smells all around, even the nasty smells in some of the rides like Pirates. Just the entire atmosphere.

The welcome home when u reach the resort.is my favorite
The first time u walk into mk and see the castle.
Walking with my dh down mainstreet.
The planning and anticipation

#15

When I first and last see the castle it brings tears to my eyes, the way WDW brings our family together, different food, the characters, the feeling that you are home, the smell of popcorn, memories.

#16

There are so many things I could say!

First, the service and magic of Disney is the primary reason we choose it over a Six Flags type place.

Probably the things that get me the most are the smells…of the buses, Main Street, PoC, BTMRR, Spaceship Earth, Soarin…I could keep going forever! They really make me feel ecstatic that I’m at Disney. Sometimes I’ll catch a whiff of something at home that reminds me of Disney and it makes me want to go back soooo bad!

#17

…I can’t even begin to make a list…it’s just a “feeling” I get…and we don’t rent a car so we are totally there immersed in another world for the entire week of our visit…

Nothing can compare…it just IS…

#18

Mickey confetti laying in the bushes left from some parade at MK and my kids getting a handful and putting it in their pockets like it’s gold

Same here Donna. My very first “thing” is getting on the monorail at the airport and smelling the Florida air. Can’t wait!

Here are mine:

  1. The queue line for Soarin’. (LOVE the music, the smell…everything)
  2. The walk from Alligator Bayou to the main building in the morning at POR.
  3. Riding the boat from POR to DTD in the early evening, and back again in the dark.
  4. Meeting in front World of Disney and comparing what we purchased with the rest of the fam.
  5. The voiceover for the People Mover.
  6. The excitement in the air and the announcer’s voice right before Fantasmic.

…and the list could go on and on. The little things are what makes it feel like home.
