Which moderate for me?

#1

Yeah, yeah, I know. It’s been asked a million times. I just can’t decide. I’m going to book my next trip for the beginning of March in the next couple weeks. I just stayed at CBR and, while I did like it, I don’t like the size, bus wait times, and I simply want to try something else.

So, I’m leaning towards POFQ. I like the idea of the boat to DTD and the fact that it’s a smaller resort. What do you guys think? Help me decide.

#2

POFQ! I loved it there.

#3

I voted for POR because I’ve always wanted to stay there, it looks so beautiful.

#4

Oh, I voted CSR, and then I read your post. It’s clear that you don’t want a big resort, so go with POFQ.

CSR is REALLY big, but it sure is a beautiful resort.

#5

We’ve stayed at both CBR and POFQ. Our preference is CBR. In fact, we’re going back in November. That said, if you’ve never been to POFQ, you really should go. We loved it there and the boat to DTD is definitely a really a cool option. I vote for POFQ!

#6

POFQ is great-- the only complaint I hear over and over is that there is no sitdown dining option. This isnt a big deal to most people, but it is to some!

#7

We have stayed at all of the moderates. Not impressed at all with CBR. We love CSR. I always tell people to try POR. We have stayed at POFQ but personally, we prefer Riverside - I think it’s really pretty there and there are more dining options if that is an issue at all. The bus service there has never let us down!

#8

i have never stayed at any of them, but i hear POR is very nice.

#9

If size is your main concern, definitely go with POFQ.

In any case, it’s something different. You’re not going to hate it, at the very least it’ll be fine… or it might be your new favorite mod. You never know.

I’m trying POFQ in January, but I suspect that my  will always belong to Riverside.

#10

I love POFQ so much that when we decided to try something new for our next trip I picked POR.

#11

We loved CBR but that’s the only moderate we have stayed in, lol!

#12

We   LOVE:heart:  …

POR

#13

we love pofq!!! it was the first place we ever stayed at and we compare everything to that now!

#14

I voted for POR! Good luck!

#15

Absolutely, if size is a chief concern, POFQ is your best bet. Another option would be to simply choose the resort you like the most and ask to be put in a preferred room near main buildings. We did this with Coronado Springs and the size of the resort was not a major problem for us.

But, aside from anything else, POFQ is a beautiful resort with great themeing. Also, although Boatwright’s (the table service restaurant) is at the Riverside section of Port Orleans, it’s pretty easy to get to. The boat that goes to DTD also goes to POR. I think you’ll really like it there.

#16

POR! I stayed there in 2004 and it was VERY beautiful.

#17

I have never stayed at a moderate, but when I do I want to stay at POR or POFQ. But I think I’ll try POR first!!! So I voted POR!

#18

POR. Stayed there a few times and liked it tons!!!

CSR is a large resort that doesn’t share services with other resorts and offers some deluxe amenities because it’s a convention resort.

CSR offers a salon, spa, workout facility, full menu room service, a courtesy coach to assist in getting to and from the main building, and is the only moderate to offer suites. Many of these amenities are available because CSR is a convention resort.

If you’re on the dining plan, you won’t find a better CS spot than the Pepper Market. Huge portions, great choices and tasty food. The PM can be crowded on occasion because CSR is a convention resort, especially during the lunch hour. Lunch/Dinner Menu

CSR is situated around a 15 acre lake. For comparison, CBR is situated around a 45 acre lake. Great place for a romantic walk around the Lago Dorado, across the lighted bridge to the hammocks on the white sandy beach. This is best experienced at night. See pics on my website.

CSR has terrific transportation. It doesn’t share with any other resort (like POR / POFQ) and it only has 4 bus stops within the resort (vs 7 at CBR). And since CSR is centrally located, you’ll have a quick ride to all the parks. And being a convention resort, the buses seem less crowded because convention guests are busy with their convention activities.

CSR is the most central to the 3 parks. See the map below.

CSR has the best pool of the mods and is right up there among the best on WDW property.

Best mod pool, it offers a great slide (123 ft long), an arcade, a sand volleyball court, and a playground at the main pool area. And being a convention resort, the pool seems less crowded because convention guests are busy with their convention activities.

Review from mousesavers.com!!

Coronado Springs is my Best Value choice in the Moderate category. It has several advantages compared with the other Moderate resorts. It is newer, so there has been less wear-and-tear on everything. Also, Coronado Springs is a convention hotel, so it has a few extra amenities not offered at the other Moderates, including a salon, a health club and a more upscale food court.

The theming is radically different in the three areas of Coronado Springs. You can request a specific area when booking but there is no guarantee you’ll get your request.

[ul]
[li]The Spanish-style Casitas at Coronado Springs are very peaceful, with courtyards featuring tiled fountains. Casitas Buildings 1, 3 and 2 (in that order) are the closest to the restaurants and services. Casitas Building 4 contains the salon and health club, if those are important to you.
[/li]
[li]The Cabanas at Coronado Springs have a beachy Caribbean feeling. Cabanas Building 8A is very close to the feature pool, which may be a blessing (convenience) or a curse (noise, light). Cabanas Building 9B is closest to the marina and relatively convenient to the restaurants and services.
[/li]
[li]The Ranchos at Coronado Springs feel quiet and secluded – some would say isolated – and feature desert landscaping and pueblo-style architecture. They look closest to the main pool on a map, but in actuality they are separated from the rest of the property by a swamp, so it can be a fairly long walk from these buildings to the pool, and a very long walk to the restaurants.[/ul]
